Biography

Idle Rains is back….stronger and better than ever!!

Yes, Idle Rains has reformed and is back and ready to take on the Saskatchewan music scene once again. Tommy John Ehman and David Evans, the two mainstays of the band for over 10 years, have brought a new and talented musician into the fold.

>Rob Ehman – bass guitar and harmony vocals (Vern Michaels Band)

Along with the lead vocals of Tommy John Ehman and lead guitar of David Evans, the band is set to go! Playing a unique blend of country rock, classic rock and song from their two original music CDs, Wasted Nights and To The Wall, Idle Rains will put on an exciting and highly energetic show, playing like “there’s no tomorrow”!

Idle Rains first formed in the early 90’s in Regina, SK and has traveled a long and winding road to get to where they are today. Performing locally and touring throughout western Canada in the mid 1990’s to promote their original material the band played in all sizes of venues and to as many people as possible. As changes occurred the band took to playing more in and around Saskatchewan as a duo group and found success in doing so. This format continued for a few more years until Tommy released his solo CD Like Father; Like Son in 2005 at which time the band took a well-deserved break. Promoting the new CD took centre stage for the next number of months.

This brings us to today and a new beginning for Idle Rains. With a thousand nights and a thousand shows behind them, they are flush with excitement and experience and will bring it all to every performance. We guarantee it. You will not be disappointed!

Performance History

Idle Rains has performed all across western Canada over the last 10 - 12 years in all sizes of venues and stages, from festivals like The Taste Of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK to The Swift Current Fringe Festival in Swift Current, SK. They have performed in "A" circuit clubs like The Pump in Regina, SK, The North 40 in Brandon, MB and the former Cook County Saloon in Lethbridge, AB and all other points in between. No place is too big or too small, all they need is an audience!

As well as time "on the road" with Idle Rains and Midnight Highway, Tommy John Ehman has also performed as a solo act to promote his new solo CD LIKE FATHER; LIKE SON at such events as The Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, SK, The Canadian International Farm Equipment Show in Toronto, ON and The Weyburn Wheat Festival in Weyburn, SK. All these and other solo events have been a tremendous success in promoting his new CD.

David Evans has been a mainstay in the club circuit of western Canada for a number of years and has played an endless list of clubs and other venues. In bands such as David Thompson, Midnight Highway, (with tommy john ehman) Del Rio, Renegade, Idle Rains, The Outlaws and Madison Road, David has proven he has what it takes to stay on top of the music scene. He is an accomplished musician having written all the music and producing Idle Rains' second CD To The Wall. .

Rob Ehman comes to Idle Rains having just come off a 2 year stint with the Vern Michaels Band playing venues and caberets all across Saskatchewan. Rob and Tommy are longtime friends and even began their music careers together many years ago in a small but successful local band Trial Run. Rob has also played in a number of other local bands in his home town of Craik, SK over the years and has an abundance of stage experience that make him a valuable new member of the band.
